Getting Started

What is included in a standard cleaning?

During a standard clean our Soapy cleaners will ensure each room in your home is spotless!

Kitchen area gets a full wipe down of all surfaces and exterior wipe of appliances and cabinets (inside of appliances can be cleaned, additional costs would apply), trash and recycle bins emptied and wiped.

Bathroom area gets a full wipe down of all surfaces. Bathtub, shower tiles, sink and toilet scrubbed, faucets shined.

Living areas, bedrooms, hallways and laundry rooms are also included.

All baseboards dusted, light switches and door knobs wiped, all floors vacuumed and mopped.

You will need to purchase extras for us to clean inside of appliances and to do deep scrubbings, or move-in/out cleans.

When Do I Need a Deep Cleaning?

Deep Cleanings are required for homes that haven’t been cleaned in the last 30 days.
This will be needed if there is excess mess, requires a very long time, or require extra detailed cleanings.

When Is A Move Out Clean Needed?

Requesting a Move Out Clean is always required if you have just moved out or are about to move into a new home.
This is a detailed clean that will prepare the home for the next inhabitants. All items and garbage should already be removed from the home. Power and Water needs to be connected.

Other extra services can be requested in required.

Do you service my area?

We have Soapy Cleaners working all over HRM in Halifax and Dartmouth.

How much will it cost?

We charge a flat rate which is based on the size of your home as well as an hourly rate if you only need a few things done. Take a look at the online booking form to get your price quote on services and extras that can be included.

Do you bring your own cleaning supplies, products and equipment?

We can either bring our own supplies or use yours. Our Soapy Cleaners use a variety of cleaning products so it is best that we use yours if you have any allergies or sensitivities. Many of our Soapy Cleaners use public transportation so let us know if we can use your vacuum and mop.

Can I request special tasks or extras?

Of course! We can add on many extra services like laundry and window washing. Let us know if there are any other tasks you would like that are not on our set list. We are always happy to try and accommodate your needs!

What if I don’t want to book online?

That’s no problem if you don’t want to book online – give us a call on at 902-800-8068 or email us at contact@getsoapy.ca and leave your number and one of the team will call you back.

How long does it generally take to clean my home?

Depending on the size of the home and the type of services required it could take anywhere from 3 to 8+ hours to complete a flat rate clean.

Hourly rate cleans are required if it will take a very long time to clean.
For hourly cleans you decide what you would like done and only pay for the time you choose the cleaners to be there.

How many cleaners will you send to my home?

For quality control and safety reasons, we never send our cleaners out alone.

So there will be 2 cleaners showing up to accommodate your needs.

For an hourly rate, the minimum is also 2 but you can increase the amount of cleaners if you would like!

What is the difference in a flat rate clean and an hourly rate clean?

A flat rate clean will guarantee that all rooms in your home will be cleaned, and if you’re not satisfied let us know within 48 hours and we will send the team back to complete the clean.

An hourly rate clean would only guarantee that the cleaners would be able to complete as any tasks as possible within the time that has been paid for.

Why can’t I chose some of the dates/times on your booking site?

Days that we are busy or completely booked are made unavailable to ensure we are not double booking customers.

Feel free to call us if you would like to request a date or time not available on the booking calendar.

Manage Your Account

How do I book my first appointment?

Click Book Now and fill out the information in the online form to set up your account and schedule your first booking.

How do I log into my account?

Click Sign In at the top of the web page and enter you email and password (or create a new password) and you will have full access to view bookings and make changes to your account.

How do I change my password?

Pricing & Policies

Is there anything you won’t clean?

For safety reasons we will not clean human or animal waste, or anything infested with bugs. We are not able to enter any properties that have been on the bed bug registry. We do not clean anything higher than what we can reach with a step stool.

Do I need a credit card to make a booking?

Yes. We need your credit card information to book an appointment, but you will not be charged until your cleaning is completed.

Can I apply a coupon to an existing appointment?

Absolutely. Simply enter your coupon (giftcard) code into the booking form as you are creating your booking.  Your final price will automatically change to reflect your coupon balance.  At any time you can log into your account and see the balance on any giftcards you have.

Why is the discount code not working?

Some discounts are for first time customers only and some are for recurring customers only. In addition, some discounts are only one-time, and will not work for future service. There might be a couple reasons why a specific discount code no longer works. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Do you service homes with pets?

Yes we do service homes with pets and an additional service fee would apply.

We can have our cleaners bring Eco Works cleaner or you can provide special supplies that are safe for your fur babies!
We will not clean up any animal waste. 

Do you offer discounts for regular services?

Yes, we offer:

10% off for monthly recurring service

15% off for bi-weekly recurring service

20% off for weekly service.

Will the cleaners be on time to arrive at my home?

We schedule your clean for the time you have requested but we do allow a 1 hour arrival window.

This just in case there is an issue with traffic, public transportation or time between cleans.

Do I have to be home when the cleaners are there?

If you are unable to be home when the cleaners arrive you can provide info for entry and the cleaners will ensure your home is locked before they leave.

If you are prefer not to stay during the cleaning that is not a problem as our cleaners have all undergone a CRC.

Will you do late night and weekend cleans?

Soapy Cleaning Company is open until 8pm.

We will send cleaners to your home no later than 2pm to ensure that they aren’t working after hours. We work 7 days a week but are rarely available on Sundays and holidays as we service a lot of Airbnbs in Halifax.

Trust & Safety

Can I trust my cleaning professional?

You bet! Once hired, our Soapy Cleaners are required to get a criminal record check.

What happens if something goes wrong during my appointment?

If something goes wrong we’re here to make it right. Please let us know right away and we’ll be there to take care of it.  That’s our promise to you!

Is my billing information kept safe and secure?

We have three levels of security in place. First off our booking page is protected by extended validation ssl. Secondly our booking form has it’s own layer of 256 bit security.  Third, credit card transactions are processed by stripe and is layered on their own 256 security protocol. In addition, no credit card numbers are stored in our system (only a token that allows us to charge the card).  Rest assured we take security very seriously.

What is your 200% satisfaction guarantee policy?

If you aren’t fully satisfied with your cleaning, let us know within 48 hours and we will send a cleaner back to complete the job. If you still aren’t satisfied with the cleaning, we will give you a full refund for the cost of the clean.

Are you insured?

We are fully insured with third party liability and will take can of an accidents in the unlikely case that one occurs.
Our company is registered with the province and all employees are paid a fair wage on the books.

Airbnb Cleaning Service

Is Soapy Cleaning Company just a house cleaning company?

Not at all! We started by cleaning Airbnbs with our sister company HostOften Vacation Rental Management. It wasn’t until late that we expanded our residential cleaning services in HRM.

Do you provide flat rate cleans?

It’s our specialty! We are happy to discuss a price that works best for you so you can add it directly to your listing, and avoid hidden expenses and unexpected bills. If there is partying or above average mess in your property we will be required to add an extra charge for deep cleaning.

Do you offer frequency discounts for Airbnb Cleans?

Our rates are set as low as possible to keep them acceptable for guests and we do not offer frequency discounts. It is assumed that the majority of hosts will use continue to use our turnover services on a regular basis.

What is an appropriate cleaning fee to add to my listing?

Depending on the size of your place, $90-$135 is typically reasonable. You will find some listings charge $20 or nothing but we feel that these hosts are not properly valuing their time.
A proper Airbnb turnover in Halifax takes 2-5 hours and guests who frequent Airbnb will understand this.

Is same day check in/out a problem?

Not at all! Our cleaners will work to get your property ready within the turnover window so you can maximize guest occupancy.

Can I choose the time for my turnover cleaning?

We recommend setting your check in/out times for 4pm and 11am. We start our turnovers at 11am to ensure enough time to reset your property for the next guest.

How much notice is needed to book an Airbnb turnover?

We would ideally like 72 hours notice but we will always try to rearrange our schedule to provide you with a turnover for a same-day booking.

How do you ensure a consistent quality for all Airbnb turnovers?

We will train two cleaners specifically for your property and create custom checklists that will be used by them and any substitute/ backup cleaners. We also require cleaners to send us photos so we can ensure the quality of the cleaning.

Do I need to be present for the Airbnb Turnover?

Nope. We will check ourselves in and out the same way your guests would. We are fully insured and receive criminal record checks to give you peace of mind with us in your home.

What if your cleaner finds damage or missing items?

Our cleaners will photograph and document any damage, and notify you immediately. If there is something that can fix simply we will take care of it. We are critical thinkers and will not bother you with minor issues.

What about linens?

We will wash bedding and towels on site and remake the beds according to your standards
